On 20 September 2017, RSP Architects Planners & Engineers signed an MOU with Zoina Land (中南置地) to plan and develop soccer themed towns in China. The planned townships will offer gyms, museums, hotels, cafes, youth soccer schools and other soccer related programmes, with strong endorsements from popular European soccer clubs and celebrity players.
The partnership is a highly cohesive one combining both parties’ complementary strengths and experience. Under the agreement, RSP will provide the master plan and design for every project, leveraging on more than 60 years' expertise in architecture, engineering and planning across a wide range of project types in geographically diverse locations. Parent company Rowsley Ltd, a Singapore investment enterprise which jointly operates football themed hospitality franchises in the UK and Singapore with the famous alumni of the famed "Class of 92" of Manchester United, will provide the partnership with significant resources in hospitality and sports.
Zoina Land, one of China's top 20 real estate companies, will be the local expert on government relations and geographical background knowledge. It will offer guidance on operations and management, industry and regional integration, project evaluation and consultation, and land usage and development planning conditions
"RSP is offering a new model of development in China using sports as a main attraction. The townships will be built on an unprecedented large scale, integrating leisure, hospitality, education and coaching, personal development, and even museums and R&D.
“With China's stated aim to be a world football superpower and its growing appetite for leisure and recreation, we are ready to unlock the full growth potential of China,” says Shi Lu, Managing Director of RSP China.
